  • 2 years of experience working with embedded operating systems.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 8 years of experience with data structures/algorithms.
  • 7 years of experience with power analysis, thermal Analysis or tuning Optimization.
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
  • 3 years of experience working in a matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
  • Experience with Android operating system.

The Pixel Device Thermal Software Team is responsible for developing thermal management software, tuning device policy, collecting thermal metrics, analyzing and profiling key CUJs for both Tskin and Tj. We work with cross-functional teams to create innovative and efficient solutions to control Tskin/Tj within the goal and make hard trade-offs in creating the best user experience. Our team focuses on the SoC platform and device thermal bring up. Developing operating system thermal management software, including Tskin, Tj, userspace API and frameworks.
Establishing and improving thermal KPIs (lab and field) for key use cases. Triaging and analyzing lab and field thermal issues.
Collaborating with internal and external partner teams to improve thermal on future Hardware architectures.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement the thermal management framework across the bootloader, Linux kernel, and Android HAL.
  • Integrate and debug the thermal software during new device bring-up.
  • Perform root cause analysis on thermal issues by analyzing test data and system logs.
  • Develop key metrics (e.g., Time-to-Throttle, skin temperature compliance) to quantify and validate thermal performance.
  • Drive future direction of Thermal feature development based on thermal metrics analysis.
