Tech Officer Food and Process Chemistry HEW 6

HEW 6 | Full-Time | 3 month initial assignment

We’re seeking a skilled Technical Officer to support teaching and research in food and process chemistry. You’ll manage lab operations, maintain equipment, and ensure a safe and compliant environment.

Key Duties

• Safe handling and disposal of hazardous chemicals (WHS, MSDS, GHS)
  
  
• Maintain and calibrate lab equipment:
  
  
• Tensiometers
  
  
• Gas Chromatography (GC)
  
  
• Rotary Evaporators
  
  
• Vacuum Ovens
  
  
• Fluorometers
  
  
• Deliver inductions, SOPs, safety briefings, and hands-on training
  
  
• Oversee laser safety (Class 3 & 4), equipment use, and lab protocols
  
  
• Manage lab scheduling, inventory, and chemical waste
  
  
• Assist with upgrades, risk assessments, and stakeholder communication
  
  

About You

• Degree in Chemistry or higher qualifications in Analytical Chemistry/ Chemistry or a related discipline and relevant experience.

• Strong lab and technical experience
  
  
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  
  
• Able to train users and maintain safety standards
  
  
• Working With Children Check required
