The role involves interpreting engineering and architectural plans and specifications to support the project engineer in calculating the materials needed for master moulds and form-liners for estimating purposes. You'll connect with estimators, project managers, and contract administrators from our customer's engineering and architectural teams. This is a very hands-on position, so you’ll be spending most of your time assisting on the shop floor.
Requirements
- Preparation of shop drawings for approval and acceptance to manufacture.
- Set up and run CNC routers, tooling selection, set out of machine work area, programming CNC machine, including speeds and feed rates as well as checking quality of raw materials and trialing.
- Build master moulds, identify the layout and sequence the projects on the casting decks.
- Responsible for housekeeping in and within the premises of factory including regular maintenance of tools and equipment.
- Assisting on the shop floor with set-out, batching, mixing, lifting, trimming, cleaning and storage of form-liners and moulds.
- Trade qualifications and extensive experience as a toolmaker or fitter and turner with some carpentry experience desirable.
- An experience in using CAD (SolidWorks and Inventor) and CAM packages will be desirable.
- Experience in Mould building for cold casting will be desirable.
- Strong interpersonal & time-management skills are essential to ensure efficient planning to prepare and commit to project time frames.
- Ensuring correct tooling, equipment and materials are available to meet demand.
