Role Definition

A shop test technician is responsible for the execution of electrical functionality tests of ISO switchgear products. Job duties include: verification of functionality of products through standard test procedures, custom procedures with engineering assistance, organizing corrections with assembly team members, documentation of quality performance, downloading software associated with the product.

What You Will Do

  • Safely perform all testing procedures on switchgear and other ISO-certified products.

  • Conduct functionality tests to ensure proper operation of switchgear and related equipment.

  • Maintain accurate quality control records to identify trends and support corrective actions.

  • Perform quality checks (QC) on switchgear systems.

  • Complete all required documentation, including test designs, material transfers, and punch lists.

  • Power up switchgear systems (24–125 VDC and 120–600 VAC), verify communication systems, operate manual breakers, download templates and engineering test codes, perform PLC I/O checks, and install HMI programs. Troubleshoot any issues across these systems.

  • Successfully complete General Switchgear Training.

  • Support final preparation and readiness of switchgear for delivery.

  • Collaborate with engineering teams during final testing phases.

  • Ensure all quality standards and expectations are consistently met.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor.


What You Will Have

  • Associate’s degree in electrical technology or equivalent hands-on experience.

  • Foundational knowledge of AC/DC electrical principles.

  • Basic understanding of ladder logic and relay logic systems.

  • Familiarity with PLC’s and electrical troubleshooting techniques.

  • Experience working with low and medium voltage electrical components (480 – 15kV).

  • Demonstrated troubleshooting skills, preferably in electrical systems.

  • Working knowledge of Paralleling Switchgear and three-phase power systems.

  • Proficient in using electrical test equipment such as multimeters, test carts, and power supplies.

  • Basic computer literacy and ability to navigate technical software.

Physical Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodation):

  • Ability to perform repetitive operations

  • Ability to lift to 35 lbs.

Shift

  • Monday-Thursday; 5:00AM-3:30PM

Summary Pay Range:

$23.35 - $30.35
