What you'll do:
● Be a lead experience designer with hands on design skills and deep understanding of design process and methods.
● Lead cross-functional teams on big design projects and products.
● Work closely with business, tech, and customer folks to get things done.
● Handle complex stuff, communicate clearly, and guide multiple teams.
● Drive the design process and deliver awesome design solutions that meet business goals.
● Create and showcase concepts that prove value to both the business and customers.
● Own the product experience, champion design, talk to stakeholders, run design reviews, and spark innovation.
Your day-to-day responsibilities:
● Come up with lots of good design ideas.
● Help brainstorm and work together on concepts.
● Check the quality of solutions and how well they fit.
● Give clear directions to your team.
● Scope out competitor products, industry trends, and other relevant topics.
● Stay in the loop about business, strategy, and how it's organized.
● Understand what makes partners and stakeholders tick.
● Guide design solutions within business and revenue model.
● Think about how proposed solutions will impact the organization.
● Create product experiences that match program vision and goals.
● Spot the right design problems and opportunities in a brief.
● Solve problems through design work and hands-on effort, while teaming up with leaders.
● Make sure your and your team's work is super detailed.
● Look for user insights and work with research teams to gather them (formal/informal, primary/secondary).
● Explain solutions to stakeholders using business language.
● Be a confidence booster and motivator for your team.
● Present design solutions and their reasoning persuasively to business partners and key stakeholders.
● Mentor new team members and interns on design craft and process.
● Stand up for your team and suggest ways to align design work with design goals.
● Find chances to share your expertise with the broader design community.
Bonus points if you have:
● A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design.
● Portfolio is all professional work.
● Experience leading design for multiple programs or products that shipped to a huge user base.
● Experience designing for different platforms, audiences, and areas.
● Proof that you helped make products successful.
● The ability to understand broader business, technical, and customer success factors and work with colleagues in those areas.
● Experience mentoring other designers.
Tools you'll use:
● Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud tools, Sketch
● Other creative tools
Skills you'll need:
● Core Design: User experience design (UX), interaction design, user interface design, information architecture and visualization, motion design, visual design, etc.
● Soft Skills: Good articulation of thoughts and communication, good at negotiating and influencing, and creative at storytelling.
