The Underwriter will be responsible for working with agents/brokers to write new and existing business as well as establishing and developing relationships with agency principals while actively managing the production of each agency.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Underwrites new and existing business including properly identifying, classifying, and developing appropriate rates.
Acts as the primary liaison between the agent and the company.
Serves as contact between agents and various departments on customer service matters.
Reviews production and profitability results with agencies on a regular basis.
Works with underwriting personnel to improve production and profitability.
Effectively manages a large volume of agencies and workload as assigned.
Maintains an awareness of the marketplace, and industry matters and responds to the needs of our agents.
Reviews inspections from inspection vendors and prioritizes those needing immediate attention and action (recommendation letters, non-renewals, cancellations).
Maintains a complete understanding of the company’s products and systems as well as those maintained by agencies.
Actively manages the agency production of premium volume in line with company goals.
Provides feedback to the company about competitors such as products, pricing or programs impacting the business interests of the company or its agency relationships.
Participates in agency visits/meetings and occasionally attending off site meetings, industry events or training opportunities.
Compensation: $55,000-$62,000 annually
Requirements
Education/Experience:
3-5 years of underwriting experience.
Broker license preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
Strong customer service skills
Ability to manage and prioritize large volumes of work.
Attention to detail, well-organized and ability to work well in a team setting as well as independently.
Ability to be flexible and pivot among many tasks.
