The Music Mission empowers creators to grow, engage, and monetize their fan bases on Spotify. We build promotional and expression tools for artists and their teams, powered by Spotify’s deep understanding of listener behaviors.
As a member of our Product Insights team, you will join a group of highly motivated and passionate individuals, specializing in User Research, Data Science and Analytics Engineering. You will represent the voice of our users across projects, by understanding user needs and behaviors and working closely with collaborators to craft new ideas across the user journey, and provide critical input when shaping compelling offerings and experiences. This is a highly impactful role where you’ll directly influence how millions of artists and listeners experience music on Spotify.
The User Research team operates as a centralized function within the Music Mission, giving us the opportunity to work across a wide range of product areas. Positioned at the intersection of B2B and B2C research, we collaborate with product, design, data science, business, and marketing partners to create tools and experiences to support artists and their organizations connect with listeners worldwide.
What You'll Do
- Design, plan and implement comprehensive research plans to uncover user needs and behaviors
- Independently scope research questions, select appropriate methodologies, and manage timelines to deliver actionable insights with speed
- Collaborate closely with PMs, designers, data scientists, and industry-facing partners to ensure user insights influence product and business decisions
- Deliver compelling findings that balance deep user empathy with an understanding of the strategic and commercial needs of the music industry
- Partner with data scientists to design mixed-methods studies and triangulate findings
- Build trusted relationships with team members by bringing insights to life through engaging storytelling in continuous dialogue, presentations and workshops
Who You Are
- 4+ years of user research experience in a product-focused role
- You have a degree in Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Cognitive or Experimental Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology or a related research or scientific field
- Skilled at independently scoping, managing, and delivering research projects from end to end
- Proficient at applying and adapting qualitative methods such as in-depth interviews, diary studies, and concept testing
- Experienced at conducting surveys strategically to enrich qualitative research by validating themes, identifying participant segments, and scaling insights
- Strong communicator able to influence cross-functional stakeholders and connect insights to business strategy
- Flexible and adaptable, you are comfortable navigating uncertainty and using insights to uncover direction and build confidence
- Comfortable working across both B2C and B2B domains
- Passionate about the intersection of music, technology, and user experience
Where You'll Be
- This role is based in New York City
- We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! There will be some in person meetings, but still allows for flexibility to work from home
The United States base range for this position is $108,117 - $154,453 plus equity. The benefits available for this position include health insurance, six month paid parental leave, 401(k) retirement plan, monthly meal allowance, 23 paid days off, 13 paid flexible holidays, paid sick leave. These ranges may be modified in the future.
