Job Title: Crisis Support Worker – Young People’s Mental Health

Location: Huntingdon / Cambridgeshire
Pay: £17.50 – £28 per hour
Contract: Flexible / Agency Contract
Shifts: 12-hour Days or Nights (your choice – coffee or moonlight?)

About Us

We’re not your average support service.
We’re a team on a mission: to make sure no young person faces a mental health crisis alone. We're all about compassion, creativity, and care – supporting 11–17-year-olds during their most vulnerable moments.

If you believe in the power of presence, empathy, and making actual change, keep reading.

The Role

We’re looking for someone extraordinary – someone who’s got grit, heart, and a strong coffee habit (just kidding… sort of).
As a Crisis Support Worker, you’ll be a lifeline to a young person in a 24/7 solo provision – providing one-on-one, person-centered support that’s as real as it gets.

You’ll help them feel safe, seen, and heard – whether it's 10am on a sunny Tuesday or 2am on a stormy Saturday.

Your Superpowers Will Include:

  • Daily Life Ninja: Help bring routine, rhythm, and a bit of fun to each day. Plan adventures, chill hangouts, and activities that feel more "weekend vibes" than "clinical checklist".
  • Emotional Support Extraordinaire: Use trauma-informed tools (grounding, emotional regulation, etc.) to guide the young person through tough moments and build emotional resilience.
  • The Paperwork Whisperer: Keep detailed, accurate records of support, safeguarding, and your top-tier interventions (because compliance is still cool).
  • Lifelong Learner: Regular supervision, training, and reflective practice will keep you growing professionally and emotionally.
  • Chauffeur of Care: Drive the young person to appointments, education, or the occasional ice cream outing (because balance matters).
  • Team Player With the Pros: Work hand-in-hand with CAMHS, social workers, and other key services to deliver wraparound support.

Requirements

Are You the One?

Ask yourself:

    • Have you worked with young people in crisis or with complex mental health needs?
    • Can you stay calm under pressure, even when things get a little intense?
    • Do you believe every young person deserves to feel safe, supported, and have a true sense of belonging?
    • Do you understand trauma-informed and person-centered care?
    • Are you flexible with shifts – including evenings, weekends, and the occasional short-notice cover?
    • Do you hold a full UK driving licence and have access to your own vehicle?

Bonus points if you've worked in secure settings, prison services, hospitals, or have a background in youth work, mental health, psychology, or social care.

If you're nodding along — we'd love to hear from you.

Benefits

  • What’s In It For You?
    • Competitive hourly pay (yes, your skills are worth it)
    • Career development and CPD opportunities
    • Regular supervision and reflective practice
    • Casual dress – we care more about your compassion than your collar
    • Referral bonuses – invite your talented friends and earn a reward
    • A workplace that actually cares – trauma-informed, inclusive, and genuinely supportive
