Role Definition

As a Design Engineer, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of innovative global attachments within a collaborative team environment. This role enables you to strengthen your technical capabilities through hands-on product design and development, while staying current with emerging technologies. You will also grow your professional network, collaborate with cross-functional peers, and benefit from mentorship from experienced engineers in the field.

Job Duties / Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • In this role, you will deepen your knowledge base of Caterpillar’s products, technologies, processes, services, and systems, which you will use to:
  • Incumbent would design and develop new global attachments from concept through production. ensuring alignment with organizational goals and project deliverables.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, commercial, quality, and supply chain to ensure design feasibility and product performance.
  • Actively support a prototype, pilot, or production builds relating to machine platform and support validation activities for Attachments.
  • Apply engineering principles and best practices to solve design challenges and improve product functionality.
  • Perform failure analysis, identify root causes, generate ideas, and propose solution to medium / complex failures.
  • Create and maintain detailed design documentation including CAD models, drawings, and specifications.
  • Apply knowledge of GD&T in engineering drawings & manufacturing processes.
  • Perform product and process maintenance activities in Teamcenter engineering enterprise.
  • Communicate results to customers, suppliers, team members and other business units.
  • Collaboration with global engineers and regional procurement teams on prioritizing, planning, and executing projects.
  • Engage with peers and mentors to continuously grow technical and professional capabilities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in an accredited Engineering; Mechanical Engineering or Automobile Engineering.
  • Relevant Work Experience: 4 – 8 Years.
  • Strong analytical, communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Sound knowledge on Light Fab design, and or application knowledge on Attachments.
  • Sound knowledge in manufacturing processes of Fabrication components.
  • Experience in providing solution to the current product issues and continuously improving the product quality.
  • Emphasis on initiative and self-starting tasks.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Incumbents should possess working knowledge on Creo or comparable CAD software.
  • Requires adequate knowledge on general engineering practices and Teamcenter engineering enterprise.
  • Challenges include managing their own development by continuously learning through experience and staying abreast of technology changes.
