This senior-level role plays a critical part in supporting Medicare Administrative Contracts by managing complex audits and reimbursement processes. You will independently evaluate reimbursement accuracy, lead review activities, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with federal regulations. Accountabilities:
- Conduct detailed audits and reimbursement reviews for Medicare Part A, including cost reports and complex areas such as Medicare DSH and wage index.
- Prepare comprehensive work papers and present findings in accordance with Government Auditing Standards and CMS guidelines.
- Support and mentor junior associates, assisting with their training and development.
- Participate in workgroup initiatives to improve quality, efficiency, and standard operating procedures.
- Collaborate with management to ensure adherence to audit protocols and compliance requirements.
- Lead supervisory review of cost report audits and ensure accuracy in reimbursement decisions.
- Engage in team meetings, training sessions, and special projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; preferred fields include accounting, finance, or related disciplines.
- Minimum of 8 years of audit, reimbursement, or related Medicare experience.
- Strong knowledge of CMS program regulations, Medicare cost report formats, and auditing standards.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel; familiarity with CMS computer systems preferred.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
- Continuing education and certifications (MBA, CPA, CIA, or CFE) preferred.
- Must meet residency requirements and be able to travel occasionally as needed.
- Must comply with sensitive position requirements including background checks and data handling protocols.
