Accountabilities:
- Record and categorize daily financial transactions in cloud-based accounting systems, ensuring accuracy and proper classification.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing, bill processing, payment tracking, and follow-ups.
- Reconcile bank and credit card accounts weekly, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
- Maintain the general ledger with precise entries and consistent documentation.
- Assist with payroll, vendor payments, and general administrative finance tasks.
- Support client onboarding by helping clean historical records and establish streamlined systems.
- Respond to day-to-day client inquiries related to transactions and provide updates as needed.
- Escalate anomalies or concerns to accounting managers and collaborate on month-end/year-end close activities.
- Follow established procedures (SOPs), suggest workflow improvements, and contribute to documentation.
- Participate in cross-training and resource sharing to ensure strong team coverage and knowledge transfer.
- Uphold client confidentiality and promote a professional, client-focused culture.
Requirements
- 3+ years of hands-on bookkeeping or accounting support experience, with solid knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping and GAAP fundamentals.
- Associate degree or equivalent coursework in accounting/finance preferred; bookkeeping certification is a plus.
- Experience using cloud-based software such as QuickBooks Online, Sage Intacct, or Netsuite, plus related tools like Bill.com or Expensify.
- Comfortable working 25+ hours per week (with potential for full-time).
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and eager to follow and enhance standardized processes.
- Tech-savvy and willing to adopt new systems or tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a commitment to accuracy and confidentiality.
- Prior remote work experience is helpful; a reliable internet connection and a dedicated home workspace are required.
