Job Description
Primary Function of Position:
The Equipment Engineering Manager will lead and manage the Equipment Engineering team, focusing on the optimization, transfer, and enhancement of equipment used in the manufacturing of medical devices. This role is crucial in ensuring that equipment meets regulatory standards and operates efficiently, thereby supporting the company's commitment to delivering high-quality medical products.
Essential Job Duties
Equipment Transfer:
- Lead the transfer of equipment from development to production, ensuring seamless integration into the manufacturing process.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure equipment meets design and quality specifications.
- Manage timelines and resources to ensure the timely completion of equipment transfer projects.
Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements through equipment enhancement and optimization.
- Implement best practices and innovative solutions to improve equipment performance, reliability, and efficiency.
- Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure equipment effectiveness and process improvements.
Team Management:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of equipment engineers and technicians.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the team.
- Allocate resources effectively to meet project demands and ensure team objectives are achieved.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure all equipment and processes comply with relevant regulatory standards, such as FDA, ISO, and other applicable guidelines.
- Maintain documentation and records to support compliance and audit requirements.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with research and development, quality assurance, and manufacturing teams to support new product introductions and existing product enhancements.
- Communicate project status, risks, and opportunities to senior management and stakeholders.
Budget Management:
- Develop and manage the equipment engineering budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
- Evaluate and justify capital expenditures for new equipment purchases and upgrades.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience:
- Proven track record of successful equipment transfer and process improvement projects.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and quality standards in the medical device industry.
- Experience with statistical analysis software and methodologies.
- Proficiency in project management principles and tools.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities
Required Education and Training
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in equipment engineering, preferably within the medical device industry.
- Proven working experience in manager roles.
- Advanced communication skills (verbal and written) in English.
Working Conditions
- This position may require occasional travel to other company sites or vendor locations.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to various equipment and noise levels.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Project Management Certification: Possession of a PMP or similar certification to demonstrate formal project management training and expertise.
- Green Belt Certification.
