Head of Data Engineering

About the Role

Expereo is hiring a Head of Data Engineering to lead the creation of a global data platform that turns our unmatched visibility across enterprise networks into high-value, hard-to-copy product advantages.

This is a strategic investment area for Expereo, with strong executive sponsorship and alignment between Technology, Product, and Commercial teams. You’ll be responsible for building the foundational infrastructure that powers insights across supplier performance, pricing, service reliability, and customer experience—enabling us to exploit our cornered resources and create powerful network effects through differentiated data products.

Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, you’ll collaborate closely with Engineering, Architecture, Product, and business leadership to define and deliver high-impact data capabilities across the company.

What You’ll Own

Data Platform Architecture

• Define and deliver the modern data architecture to collect, process, and activate data across our global operations.
• Build scalable pipelines and storage for structured, unstructured, and streaming data across underlay, middle mile, and overlay networks.

Strategic Data Capabilities

Develop data products and services that power:

• Supplier performance and cost benchmarking
• Market and customer pricing intelligence
• Commercial cost forecasting and margin optimisation
• Service degradation detection and automated remediation
• Application-level performance insights for customers
• Data-backed features that integrate into ExpereoOne and customer APIs

Leadership & Capability Development

• Set technical direction, define best practices, and ensure data quality, governance, and security from the ground up.
• Shape the roadmap for investment in data infrastructure and capability as the business scales.

Cross-Functional Partnerships

• Work across Product, Engineering, Architecture, and Commercial teams to turn data into business value.
• Collaborate with Platform and Observability teams to integrate performance, telemetry, and usage data into a unified model.
• Support downstream use cases from analytics and forecasting to customer insights and product intelligence.

Requirements

What You Bring

• 8+ years in data engineering or platform development roles, including at least 2 years in a technical leadership position
• Hands-on experience designing and operating modern data platforms (e.g. Snowflake, BigQuery, DBT, Airflow, Kafka)
• Strong engineering background in Python, SQL, and cloud-native data environments
• Experience with observability data, network telemetry, or supplier/performance data is a plus
• Systems thinker with a strong product and business orientation—you care about what the data enables
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional collaboration and build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders
