Infrastructure Technology Specialist

About the role
As an Infrastructure Technology Specialist, you will make an impact by shaping and maintaining the technological backbone of mission-critical healthcare systems. Your expertise in VMware and cloud infrastructure will directly support the integrity and performance of Medicare and Medicaid claims processing—ensuring millions of individuals receive timely and accurate healthcare services. Your leadership in infrastructure projects will drive innovation, enhance system resilience, and contribute to the overall efficiency of healthcare delivery. You will be a valued member of our Cloud and Infrastructure Security team and work collaboratively with our Manager in CIS.

In this role, you will:
• Design, manage, and optimize VMware vSphere and NSX environments for high availability and performance.
• Administer and support VMware Horizon VDI infrastructure.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable and secure infrastructure solutions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to Medicare and Medicaid claims systems.
• Lead infrastructure projects from planning through execution, ensuring timely and quality delivery.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of infrastructure configurations and processes.
• Implement and enforce security protocols to safeguard data integrity and confidentiality.
• Monitor system performance and recommend enhancements for efficiency and reliability.
• Conduct infrastructure audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to team members and stakeholders.
• Facilitate training sessions to upskill internal teams on infrastructure tools and best practices.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to drive continuous improvement.

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Eugene, OR. What you need to have to be considered
• 10–14 years of hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, NSX, and Horizon.
• Proven expertise in public cloud administration (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Strong understanding of Medicare and Medicaid claims systems and workflows.
• Demonstrated success in managing infrastructure projects in hybrid environments.
