Job Description
This role will be a strategic leader for Intuitive’s EHS and Security team supporting the APAC region. The position reports to the Global Director EHS with a dotted line to the Global Director Physical Security. The Manager EHS & Security will work closely with the local process owners and business partners to ensure requirements are met across all sites and, additionally, assessing risk, ensuring compliance, and implementing EHS and Security programs to address all relevant changes with impact to the environment, safety and security of our employees and overall operations.
Essential Job Duties
- Lead the development and execution of environment, health & safety and security programs aligned to Global Intuitive business programs and standards.
- Establish high quality relationships with both site and corporate leadership to identify and implement short and long-term strategic initiatives.
- Provide leadership, direction and support necessary to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations and standards to meet or exceed relevant internal and external environmental, safety, and security standards.
- Drive the establishment and implementation of EHS and Security strategic plans, in alignment with business and functional needs.
- Establish and drive EHS and Security performance to support service level agreements and key performance indicators which are in line with business expectations.
- Manage physical security needs to ensure asset and property protection.
- Partner with stakeholders, including Senior Leadership, Engineering and Manufacturing Operations to mitigate risk.
- Conduct root causes analyses and share lessons learned across business units.
- Keep abreast of industry and market trends and best practices.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience
- 10+ years of experience in leading environmental, health and safety in a manufacturing environment. Preference for managing security operations and leading Global EHS teams.
- Strong knowledge of national and international laws and regulations across Asia related to protection of the environment and the health and safety of our employees.
- Expertise in administering and auditing core critical safety programs (i.e., LOTO, fall protection, etc) and hands-on experience in managing and/or auditing industrial and lab environments.
- Knowledge of ISO 14001 and/or other management systems, such as ISO 45001.
- Prior experience in successfully building and leading teams and developing talent across a Global EHS function.
- A team builder who is able to coach and mentor team members and work closely with employees on their continued development.
- Strategic thinker with creative and excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Resilient self-starter, who can act independently and learn quickly within a rapidly evolving environment.
- Excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience managing remote and/or Global teams.
- Excellent analytical skills with an ability to critically interpret and use scientific and clinical data to manage risk assessment.
- Able to effectively collaborate with site operations, functional leaders and external clients and vendors.
- High attention to detail and accuracy with a strong commitment to business ethics.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and to prioritize and schedule work to meet business needs.
- Computer literacy (PC, Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint, Outlook), experience with Agile a plus.
- An ability to travel up to 40%.
- Proficient in English. Preference for multi-lingual (i.e. Japanese, Korean).
Required Education and Training
- Minimum Degree: Bachelor of Science degree is required. Specialization in Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering, or Environmental Sciences.
- Candidates with a Master’s degree specializing in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering or Environmental Sciences are preferred.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Professional certification preferred such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE) or Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or closely related certification.
