Manager - Supply Chain Performance

Job Purpose:

This position works with facility Supply Chain and Operations personnel to help develop tools and support projects that improve end-to-end value chain capability in the areas of inventory optimization, improved Sales and Operations Planning, high-velocity throughput, optimized logistics and capacity planning.

This position is responsible for providing leadership and governance collaboration with site purchasing, Category, Localization, Demand and Orders and Material Requirements Planning teams.

Incumbent plays key role to address and resolve material availability issues using root cause and corrective action, managing the control tower suppliers, improving supplier delivery performance, reduce supplier past due, developing tools like plan for every part and ensuring supplier capacity working with Purchasing team, coordination with localization team to expedite localization and monitor / implement phase in phase out.

Incumbent provides leadership, coaching, focus, motivation and encouragement to direct reports. Direct Reports include Supply Chain Performance Engineers. Responsible for coaching, developing and mentoring resources. The incumbent is responsible for all personnel issues and performance evaluation of direct reports, including development, capability building and succession planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Purchasing, Category team and control tower to ensure the parts availability for the critical, high risk and control tower suppliers.
  • Identify and implement the root cause corrective action to improve the supply delivery performance, lower supplier past due
  • Lead to implement plan for every part, Lead time reduction initiatives
  • Monitor supply risk assessment and initiate actions to ensure Assurance of supply
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance material availability and optimize inventory
  • Partner with Localization team to complete PIPO on time and expedite localization of parts to manage Assurance of supply
  • Monitor control tower supplier and work with Category team to adhere milestone date to come out from control tower or work with localization team to localize the part
  • Maintain strong cross-functional knowledge across Supply chain, Purchasing, Category, Localization.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders and lead change initiatives across the enterprise.
  • Manage projects independently, ensuring timely delivery and resource alignment.
  • Apply functional knowledge of Supply chain and procurement

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • College or university degree related to Supply Chain, Engineering, Logistics required.
  • Eight to ten years of supply chain, Purchasing related job experience
  • Experience in supplier management or supplier development
  • Knowledge and understanding of 6 Sigma project management principles
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
  • The ability to develop and deploy creative / original solutions to complex problems
  • Thorough understanding of company policies and procedures, especially supplier focused Caterpillar initiatives
  • Solid Supply chain and purchasing knowledge
  • Prior experience leading cross functional teams outside of direct reporting structure

Highly Desired:

  • APICS CPIM or CSPC National Certification highly desired.
  • Experience in Global Purchasing, Material Requirements, or Supply Chain / Logistics is
  • highly desired.

  • Office Model: This position requires the employee to work a 5-day-a-week schedule in the office.
