Senior Construction Engineer

Location: Victoria, Australia

Salary: circa $140,000 + super + commuter use vehcile

As a Senior Construction Engineer, you will be a key expert in both engineering and construction, reporting directly to the Quality Assurance Regional Manager. You will collaborate closely with Project Engineers in the Construction Assessment & Delivery (CAD) team, who work with land development consultants, contractors, and private landowners. Your goal will be to ensure that new stormwater and flood prevention infrastructure, such as wetlands, waterways, retarding basins, and pipelines, are built to the required standards and expectations.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Inspecting construction sites across the region to make practical engineering and vegetation decisions in real time.

  • Assessing and resolving field-based issues in close collaboration with the CAD team and other stakeholder teams.

  • Providing input and feedback on the suitability of Site Environmental Management Plans (SEMPs) submitted by consultants.

  • Managing project financials, including variations, cost options, and other related aspects.

About You

We are looking for a dedicated professional with a strong background in engineering and a passion for quality construction.

To be successful, you will need:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Environmental or Civil Engineering.

  • Experience in Environmental, Geotechnical, Vegetation, SEMP, and/or Civil Engineering projects.

  • Experience within the land development industry, preferably from site-based roles within a government entity.

  • The ability to manage multiple large-scale, site-based projects simultaneously and make effective decisions.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in interpersonal and negotiation skills.

  • The capacity to lead, guide, and support team members through complex site-based issues and ambiguous situations with financial implications.

  • A strong Health, Safety & Environment mindset for working on active construction sites.

Key Requirements

  • An Industry White Card.

  • A valid Victorian Driver's Licence.

  • You must be willing to undergo Medical, Criminal Record, and Qualification checks.
