Caterpillar's Resource Industries Operations & Products is currently seeking a Test Engineer to support product development at the Caterpillar Tucson Proving Ground. In this role, you will perform engineering assignments while building a working knowledge of Caterpillar and Caterpillar products, technologies, processes, services, and systems. Activities are focused on full-scale testing of mining and construction equipment and technology to ensure that products perform as intended and meet customer requirements.

What you will do:

• Resolving issues regarding the design or machine function per machine requirements. Ensuring design acceptance and manufacturing readiness.

• Planning and improving testing procedures and operations to make the test more reliable, efficient and cost-effective.

• Monitoring results, machine and process capabilities and performance reliability.

· Assist with and perform hands on machine updates and equipment installation, record and analyze test data, interpret and report results.

Education Requirement:

Bachelor's degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum or equivalent experience working in an Engineering function.

What skills you will have:

Product Testing: Knowledge of product testing approaches, techniques and tools; ability to design, plan and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure product quality at all stages of manufacturing.

• Tests components for compliance with functional requirements and established conventions.

· Documents test process and results; prepares and analyzes defect-tracking reports.

• Summarizes features of a specific product-testing process and associated procedures.

Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a testing environment.

• Troubleshoots typical technical problems related to performance and machine functionality.

• Work with tools such as CAT ET, CANape, Cadet to flash and control machine functionality.

Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.

• Uses a structured approach in analyzing and resolving technical problems.

• Innovate procedures to determine root cause or provide additional information that can help our partners diagnose root cause.

Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.

Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems.

Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.

Additional Information:

  • This role is based at the Tucson Proving Grounds and follows an in-office schedule. A 9/80 schedule may be offered at the manager’s discretion.

Summary Pay Range:

$87,480.00 - $131,280.00
