Job Description

Primary Function of Position:

Under indirect supervision of the Sr. Production Manager, the Sr Continuous Improvement Engineer will perform department diagnostic to identify opportunities for improvement, execute projects and coordinate continuous improvement activities on the department.

The Sr Continuous improvement engineer will have dotted line with Site Continuous Improvement Manager to ensure alignment on methodologies and tools for an optimal performance.

This role require collaboration with local and corporate departments to ensure alignment. Responsible for maintaining a robust project pipeline to continue improvement KPIs in terms of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Staff and Productivity.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes data and trends of the entire Value Stream to determine opportunities for improvement.
  • Creates and implements a plan to turn the current state map into the future state map using lean techniques.
  • Executes and coordinates continuous improvement tasks and projects within Value Stream.
  • Foster project management discipline, providing expertise and support in the intake, initiation, planning, execution, transition and closure of projects.
  • Responsible for executing Value Stream Capacity and HC planning as part of the SIOP process.
  • Fosters a sustainable continuous improvement culture (Lean Sigma) to deliver business results by acting as Mentor and Subject Matter Expert on continuous improvement methodologies for the department
  • Collaborates with Continuous Improvement Manger to define and execute COE of Make strategic projects.
  • Promotes and coordinates department EH&S opportunities through Continuous Improvement methodologies as well as Poka-Yoke implementation.
  • Collaborates with OPEX in the preparation and execution of Excellence Week.
  • Participates in the annual Strategic Planning process to identify Operations initiatives and leas the development of the value streams plan.
  • Streamlines processes and operations to allow for growth/expansion
  • Ensures lean activities are linked to the business strategies and initiatives (Hoshin Kanri) by develop a transformation plan in collaboration with Operations Manager.
  • Leads project progress meetings and communications for projects owned by this position.
  • Completes post-project completions reviews to ensure successful delivery has been achieved.

Qualifications

Skills, Experience, Education, & Training:

Experience:

  • At least 3 years of experience as a Continuous Improvement or OPEX professional with strong background in Operational or Excellence Systems deployment.
  • At least 3 years of experience implementing the Lean/Six Sigma principles in manufacturing environments.
  • Experience interacting with Leadership positions.
  • Experience within Medical industries (preferred).

Education:

  • Professional Career (Engineering or Business disciplines are preferred; Master degree desirable).

Other Studies:

  • Lean and/or Green Belt certifications or equivalent preparation (highly desirable).

Languages:

  • Fluent in written and oral Spanish and English; able to maintain regular communication in both languages.

Systems Management:

  • MS Office: PowerPoint (High), Excel (Medium), Project (Medium), Mini Tab (High).

Skills:

  • Advanced application of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies in all business environments.
  • Advanced understanding of each department’s role and responsibilities within the business (both manufacturing and non-manufacturing environments).
  • Advanced Project Management knowledge.
  • Advanced communication skills.
  • Advanced experience in change management.
  • High Leadership skills, role model in proactivity and key player within results achievement (must set the Continuous Improvement spirit in the organization).
