As a Staff Data Engineer, you'll play a critical role in designing scalable platforms that power machine learning, business intelligence, and operational analytics. Accountabilities:
- Design, build, and maintain modern data infrastructure services including Data Lakes, Kafka, Kinesis, and secure data access layers.
- Create real-time streaming pipelines and offline ETL workflows that scale with the company’s growth.
- Build and maintain DBT models to support robust analytics reporting and ML models.
- Collaborate with analytics and business stakeholders to improve data ingestion, modeling, and access.
- Optimize infrastructure with automation, scalability, and performance in mind.
- Manage secure data warehousing environments (e.g., Snowflake) and ensure reliable, efficient access to large datasets.
- Produce technical documentation including architecture designs, runbooks, and engineering best practices.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of experience in data infrastructure or data engineering.
- Proficiency in Python and SQL; Java experience is a plus.
- 4+ years of hands-on experience with DBT and Snowflake.
- 4+ years working with IaC tools like CDK or Terraform.
- Familiarity with a wide range of AWS services such as Lambda, Glue, RDS, Step Functions, DMS, EMR, and EKS.
- Experience with big data platforms/tools like Kafka, Hive, Spark, Hadoop, Cassandra, or Airflow.
- Strong understanding of relational and NoSQL databases in production settings.
- Solid grounding in algorithms, data structures, and design patterns.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills; comfortable working in fast-paced and ambiguous environments.
- Experience with CI/CD practices and mentoring fellow engineers.
