Studio Operations Supervisor

About the role

The Studio Operations Supervisor is responsible for supporting & overseeing the day-to-day operations of the television studio and broadcast activities. This role ensures the smooth execution of studio shoots, live broadcasts, pre-recorded segments, and coordinates closely with cross-functional teams, including production, makeup, and technical staff.

Responsibilities

  • Studio Operations Support:
    • Assist the coordination of all aspects of studio operations to ensure timely and smooth execution of broadcasts and productions.
  • Electronic News Gathering (ENG) Coordination:
    • Oversee the scheduling and logistics for ENG teams in the field, ensuring they have the necessary equipment and support for successful on-location news coverage.
    • Ensure smooth coordination between ENG teams, news production, and the studio for seamless integration of live and pre-recorded field footage.
  • Equipment and Technical Maintenance:
    • Ensure regular maintenance of studio equipment to prevent downtime during live and recorded productions.
    • Work closely with the engineering and IT teams to identify and troubleshoot any technical issues with broadcasting equipment.
    • Manage the technical support needed for live broadcasts and pre-recorded shoots.
  • Team Leadership and Coordination:
    • Support management of studio and control operators, ENG crews, and other support staff to ensure efficient workflow and collaboration.
    • Support training and development activities to ensure the team stays updated on industry best practices, safety protocols, and new technologies.
    • Facilitate communication between creative, editorial, and technical teams to resolve any operational conflicts
  • Quality Assurance & Compliance:
    • Implement and monitor quality control standards for all studio and ENG operations to ensure high production quality.
    • Ensure all studio operations comply with health and safety regulations, as well as industry standards.
  • Budget and Resource Management:
    • Provide support to the Manager regarding studio resources, equipment, and personnel & budget constraints.
    • Optimize the use of studio resources to improve efficiency without compromising quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast or Electronic Engineering, Media Production, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in studio operations or broadcast management.
  • Knowledge of broadcast technology, including cameras, lighting, audio systems, and studio workflows.
  • Familiarity with ENG operations, live field production, and satellite/remote broadcasting.
  • Leadership and organizational skills with experience in coordinating cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to liaise between creative, technical, and editorial departments.
  • Ability to resolve operational and technical challenges swiftly, particularly in live broadcast scenarios.
  • Flexibility required, including working on weekends, holidays, or during live broadcasts outside of standard hours.
