POSITION SUMMARY
As the Maintenance Manager, you'll be responsible for providing strategic leadership for the Maintenance teams and heading up the Company’s maintenance department. Key focus will be to collaborate with Production and Engineering in order to improve and achieve ‘best in class’ machine reliability and performance. Utilize an effective CMMS to optimize staffing capabilities and establish a working and sustainable Preventative Maintenance program. Serve as a mentor to other company employees who can benefit from your technical skills and knowledge.
OTHER ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work in partnership with production management to maintain and repair production equipment
- Implement approved techniques for corrective and preventative maintenance and provide or assist with training to equipment operators and maintenance staff
- Work in partnership with Operations and Engineering on new equipment installations
- Proficiently and with a sense of urgency, install and repair production equipment
- Schedule and supervise repair/maintenance of the PCL production lines
- Hire and manage contracted service providers associated with maintenance and operations
- Negotiate contracts with outside vendors for specific maintenance work
- Direct the installation and repair of machinery/equipment
- Oversee, research, and promote equipment upgrades (productivity improvement, automation, etc.)
- Ensure effective use of the maintenance software system (CMMS) to regularly schedule and document preventative maintenance of building systems
- Ensure accurate recordkeeping to document required spare parts inventory and completed work orders
- Respond to all production request in a timely, effective, and professional manner
- Select staff, coach performance, and provide ongoing and timely communication regarding performance, training, and development opportunities
- Ensure that decisions made throughout maintenance are consistent with industry best practices
- Support Company Employee and Food Safety programs
- Track and approve all department related expenses
- Perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned
Requirements
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Undergraduate degree in an engineering discipline or minimum 10 years related experience as a leader in operational maintenance
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Must be able to demonstrate analytical ability in identifying problems, developing solutions, and implementing a course of action
- Excellent organizational and follow-through skills; to include the ability to multi-task
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills in order to be able to lead Maintenance employees to the completion of their assigned job duties
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to relay information accurately and with professionalism
- Working knowledge of the manufacturing equipment and quality control procedures used in a manufacturing environment
- Capability to use and modify programs in Allen Bradley PLCs using RSLogix and Studio 5000
- Ability to lead the continuous improvement efforts in the maintenance department and support the company-wide behavioral expansion of continuous improvement
- Safety experience to include the ability to provide proper training and oversight for all direct employees and contractors
- May have to be on-call to respond to emergency situations
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Work frequently near and with mechanical parts and production lines
- Exposure to cold temperatures in the winter and hot temperatures in the summer
- Occasional duties in an outside environment
- Duties are performed primarily in a smoke-free environment
- Fast paced manufacturing environment
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Frequently required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, balance, and reach
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
- Push/Pull up to 300 lbs.
