We're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Integrations Team – a cross-functional group building and maintaining the backend services that power our third-party integrations. You’ll help us make sure our product plays well with others — from communication tools and enterprise systems.
In this role, you won’t just write code — you'll help shape architecture, mentor others, and drive how we design, build, and operate our services in both cloud and private cloud environments.

Please note: For this role, we are looking for candidates who are already based within the European Union (or EFTA countries) and who have valid work authorization to work for a Germany-based employer. Unfortunately, we are not able to provide relocation or visa sponsorship for this position.

What we’re looking for:

  • Your background: You should have a minimum of 5 years of development experience and deep knowledge of Java and Spring Boot and how to build scalable services with them
  • Tech skills: Experience working with Docker, cloud-native architectures and deployment, strong understanding of databases (both SQL and MongoDB), experience with TypeScript, and a working knowledge of Angular
  • Your expertise: You know what it means to own a product: from gathering requirements, building features, testing, shipping, and keeping it running smoothly
  • Your approach: You care about writing clean, maintainable code — following best practices like testing, static code analysis, monitoring, and more
  • Teamwork: A team player, who takes responsibility for what they do and who is able to collaborate and share knowledge with excellent communication skills, ideally but not necessary also in German 
  • Knowledge-sharing: We welcome your ideas and expertise to enhance our products. Your contributions will help integrate our product with the digital landscape of our customers
  • Bonus points: We value our hybrid working model. Ideally, you’re based in or near Hamburg and can join us in the office about twice a week — because sometimes the best ideas happen over coffee, not just on calls.

What you’ll do:

  • Participate in architecture decisions for both our microservices and the core backend mainly based on Java + Spring Boot and Implement and maintain features 
  • Help run and operate our services — both in public cloud and private cloud setups and take ownership of stability, monitoring, security and scalability across services
  • Continuously level up the architecture across the whole stack, shaping the technical development of our product suite by actively developing and sharing your technical skills and knowledge within the Product & Tech department
  • Using the shape up method and agile principles to develop the best possible software, while engaging in technical discussions and product decisions
  • Helping define, test, monitor, and operate the product end-to-end — from the first idea to running it in production

👩🏼‍💻Remote/hybrid role: We value flexibility and teamwork. If you live within a commutable distance from one of our office locations, we require you to work on-site at least one day per week, with Wednesdays as the designated in-office day. While Wednesday is the minimum, we recommend spending 2 (or more) days in the office each week. For those further away, we look forward to seeing you two days per month during our team events to foster collaboration and team spirit
