Indirect Tax - Americas Technology Advisor

Summary:

Supports Americas corporate system deployments to ensure key indirect tax compliance requirements for invoicing, tax determination and reporting are understood, documented and implemented. This includes compiling and analysing test data to ensure local compliance requirements are met, and preparing key documentation to assist business users in their use of VERTEX tools, including training, guidance and issue resolution.

The role also supports the configuration, maintenance and implementation of indirect tax technology solutions (VERTEX) across the Americas. Supporting other Indirect Tax technology as needed.

What You Will Have:

Accuracy and Attention to Detail

  • Maintains precise documentation for VERTEX configurations and ERP deployment compliance.
  • Reviews and validates test data to ensure accuracy in tax determination logic.
  • Applies structured checklists and validation tools to minimize errors.
  • Tracks and corrects discrepancies in system outputs and tax reporting.
  • Ensures audit readiness through meticulous record-keeping and version control.

Effective Communication

  • Explains complex tax determination logic clearly to business and technical stakeholders.
  • Delivers training and guidance on VERTEX tools and compliance processes.
  • Collaborates with CAT-IT and global tax teams to align on deployment objectives.
  • Prepares documentation that supports business understanding of indirect tax legal requirements and systems.
  • Responds to queries with clarity and professionalism, ensuring timely issue resolution.

Tax Management and Operations

  • Supports configuration of VERTEX to meet compliance requirements across jurisdictions.
  • Assists in interpreting SUT and VAT regulations for system implementation and updates.
  • Ensures tax logic aligns with business transactions and ERP processes.
  • Maintains controls in line with the Indirect Tax Control Framework and internal standards.

Problem Solving

  • Identifies and resolves issues in VERTEX configuration and tax logic during deployments.
  • Analyses test data to troubleshoot compliance gaps and system errors.
  • Implements process improvements to enhance tax technology efficiency and reliability.
  • Escalates and documents recurring issues for long-term resolution and learning.
  • Applies structured problem-solving techniques to support project delivery and compliance.

Financial and Accounting Systems

  • Collaborates on ERP upgrades (e.g., SAP ECC to S4Hana) to ensure tax compliance is embedded.
  • Understands data flows between accounting systems and tax determination tools.
  • Supports integration of VERTEX with corporate financial systems and reporting structures.
  • Coordinates with technical teams to align system logic with tax and business requirements.
  • Monitors system performance and interfaces for tax-related transactions and controls.


Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • College degree or equivalent
  • Good understanding of SUT principles, and US Indirect Tax compliance processes
  • Knowledge and understanding of SUT Determination technology and tools

  • The primary location for this position is San Diego, CA
  • This role requires 5 days a week in office

Summary Pay Range:

$87,480.00 - $131,280.00
